Seems like a horrible trade for the Sounders. Trade two up and comers who were also pretty well liked by the fans for an unfit Eddie Johnson. Johnson hasn’t scored a goal since his time with Greek Club Aris Thessaloniki in 2010. Let’s hope he can find the form he had when he graced the pitch down in Kansas City.

Egyptian league to be resumed without fans.

New Egyptian Football Association President Anwar Saleh has said the league will resume as soon as the investigation into the deadly incident at Port Said Stadium ends. He also announced that the Egyptian National Team will not miss any of it’s scheduled matches. The league will start without fans and then gradually introduce them back into the games. This comes after 74 fans were killed and over 1,000 were injured when fans rushed the pitch and rioted on February 1st.

It’s good that the league is going to try to get on with this and the national team won’t miss any matches. I know it’s football is a trivial thing when compared to war and the suffering of human life, but at the same time, it is something that can ease that, give people something to unite for. Hopefully Egypt gets everything together quickly and something like this won’t happen again.

To Philip Anschutz of all people. Anschutz owns the MLS’ LA Galaxy and is the 34th richest man in America with a net worth of 4.4 billion pounds. He is also the owner of entertainment group AEG thus owning the London O2 Arena and the MEN Arena in Manchester. The report also says that he would keep Dan Levy as chairman to run the club.

I don’t know how I feel about this. If he wanted to be an owner who wanted to stay out of the way and bankroll the club, I’m for it. He’s shown with LA that he is willing to spend money, although the MLS really doesn’t allow much of that. I feel like he could be good for the club, but lord knows the English don’t especially like their American owners. Also, I don’t even know how truthful it is that a deal is close to being done. Something to keep an eye on, I guess.

The name St James’ Park was completely removed from the Newcastle United stadium today and was named after owner Mike Ashley’s company Sporting Direct. Plans were announced to rename the park in September but were strongly condemned by fan groups. Ashley has said that he hoped to hope a sponsor take over naming rights that could earn the team up to 10 million pounds a year. Now, I understand the need for money. Look at Arsenal and City, selling the rights to their stadiums. In modern football, it makes sense, but Ashley’s repeated attempts to just piss off fans and run this club into the ground are just unbelievable. Why buy a club if you have no interest in it’s history and only care about getting your name out there?

Fuck Mike Ashley.

Just to talk a little football. I guess it’ll come out a bit in the posts so I’ll just come right out and say I’m a supporter of Tottenham Hotspur and the Columbus Crew. I reside in the United States, and I’ll try to be covering the major leagues of Europe and MLS. This includes but is not limited to the Bundesliga, English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1.

It won’t simple be reblogs. I may do some, but the majority of this site is for me to get a word in on the current world of football.. Most posts will be opinion related, but I will also try to keep up on news stories as they happen.

If anyone is interested, I’ll have a submit button, and if anyone would like, I would to have some people through out pieces for the blog. Anything football related would be welcome.
